Editor's review
LimeWire Music is a variant of LimeWire. It is a peer to peer file sharing utility to enable the sharing of all types of files among peers.
Features: LimeWire Music is a peer to peer file sharing application that works in much the same as the original LimeWire (in fact it is only a variant of the older LimeWire software). It has the same interface as the older generation LimeWire and so user’s who are used to using LimeWire will have no trouble getting to work on this one. LimeWire Music is a peer to peer file sharing utility that can therefore be used to download any kind of files including music, videos, documents, executables, images, etc.
It uses the Gnutella framework for searching and downloading files, and also has support for Torrent files. Some additional features that make it attractive are the ability to add “ghost” ratings, which are also displayed on searches. The queue area is user configurable. Other functions are standard library management, peer chatting facility, an in-built media player, and monitoring of uploads and downloads. A limited level of customization is possible in terms of adjusting bit rates and so on.
Overall: This is a fairly good tool for peer to peer file sharing applications. It looks and feels much like the old LimeWire, with exactly the same look and feel and essential functionality. The fact that it is only a rehash of the LimeWire project and not an extension or improvement is a disappointment. In fact, the current version of LimeWire is a more advanced solution and may in fact be preferable for some users. However, in terms of performance it does not fare much worse than the current LimeWire variant, so the complaint is more about look and feel than about the efficiency. The term Music in the title is a bit misleading because there is nothing here that particularly gears the software towards music downloading. It functions in much the same way for every kind of file.
Works impeccably and the speed is good.
it runs permanently on my PC, and the results are great. Thank you!
